Key West Weekend
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12th - SUNDAY, DECEMBER 14th Beachside Resort & Conference Centerhttp://www.beachsidekeywest.com/3841 N Roosevelt Blvd Key West, FL 33040 (305) 296-8100
Beachside Resort & Conference Center is a seven-acre waterfront property with lush tropical gardens, magnificent waterfront swimming pool, and a wide variety of unique dining experiences. It is a blend of island ambiance and contemporary elegance, set on the southernmost point of one of the world's most storied travel destinations.
Here, the laid-back island lifestyle of Key West is complemented by luxurious resort services and amenities. And here the sun never sets on hospitality.
From the moment of your arrival you will see that the service provided by our staff of seasoned professionals is reminiscent of another age. You will find that each member of our staff takes a personal interest in your individual satisfaction. For here at Beachside, you are never merely a room number. You are, in fact, an honored guest.
They are holding 8 rooms at the rate of $121, which includes all taxes and parking. The rooms have king size beds, plus all the standard amenities. I might be able to get more rooms at this price if you act quickly. There is a 48 hour cancellation requirement. This is a great rate for this time of year and a resort of this caliber.
To make reservations: call the resort at 1-800-546-0885 EXT 7109 and ask for ORIANA. She is our contact. The rate and rooms are held under KING DAVID BIKERS or Sid Kaufman.
We will leave on Friday morning and should be there by noon, unless we stop at Herbie's in Marathon for a great lunch (the best chowder). If we get to the resort early, we can hang around the pool or use their private beach. Check-in is at 3:00pm. This will be a wonderful weekend to lay back and schmooze. We will also do some riding in the Keys. We will set our schedule once we are there, or go with no schedule!!

Ride 2 Remember May 14-17
Taken directly from the JMA message boards:
From: Steve Stein, 2009 R2R co-chair
2009 Ride to Remember – May 14th to May 16th, 2009
The 2009 Ride to Remember Organizing Committee is proud to announce the 2009 R2R. We'll ride from Savannah, GA to Charleston, SC on May 15, 2009. We'll depart from the premises of the Savannah Jewish Federation around 9:00 AM (after breakfast and ceremony) and ride some 110 miles on the beautiful back roads of Georgia and South Carolina to the Charleston Holocaust Memorial. After lunch and a ceremony you'll ride back to Savannah or explore Charleston before our Friday evening Shabbat banquet which is tentatively slated to start at 8:00 PM at our official JMA hotel.
Our "partners" for the 2009 R2R are the Jewish Federations of Savannah and Charleston and Rabbi Arnold Belzer of the historic Congregation Mickve Israel in Savannah (3rd oldest Jewish congregation in America!) Rabbi Belzer has invited all JMA attendees to attend services at his congregation on Fri. evening and Saturday. Mickve Israel is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
Fundraising
We'll be raising funds for Holocaust educational endeavors sponsored by the Jewish communities in Savannah and Charleston. Details will be disseminated later.
Hilton Savannah Desoto
We have blocked off 75 rooms for each night of May 14th, 15th and 16th at a rate of $159.00 per room per night. We're aware this is more than we've paid for past R2R events, however we've secured a "bargain" for downtown Savannah for the time of year we'll be visiting this beautiful city. Hotel guests will pay $5.50 per day per bike for parking (2 bikes to a parking spot with in/out privileges). The charms of Savannah are just outside the front door of the hotel! We hope to arrange Thursday and Saturday evening dinners in the downtown area.
Here are the preliminary details for the 2009 R2R. We have reserved 75 rooms for each of the 3 nights. As we are under contract to fill 75% of the reserved rooms we will not block off more until we have achieved the agreed upon number. We want to fill these rooms ASAP so we can block off more rooms. The hotel has 245 rooms and we don't have an overflow hotel, thus if you don't get a room here then you're on your own. Bear in mind that May is a very busy time in Savannah. It appears that the "buzz" is building for this event and thus we expect a big turnout. We would like to accommodate as many JMA attendees as possible at this hotel so please reserve ASAP.
To secure your reservation, please go to http://www1. hilton.com/ en_US/hi/ hotel/SAVDHHF/ index.do Check in date: May 14th - check out date May 17th. Type in JMA in the Group Convention Code box and you'll see the JMA rate of $159.
Please reserve your room ASAP as we'll only request additional rooms once we have 57 rooms booked for each night. As Savannah is very busy at this time of year, it's important that you reserve a room ASAP so we can block off more rooms. We have not made arrangements at any other hotels. Bear in mind because of the venue and pent up demand from those who haven't attended the R2R since 2006 (not to mention the growth of the JMA) that we expect a big turnout for this event.
************ *
There are many other activities and details to arrange. We obviously wanted to secure the hotel and the Jewish Federations in both cities before we released any details to the JMA community. Your 2009 R2R team has worked on previous R2Rs and other events and are committed and excited to make the 5th annual R2R the best to date!
We hope to have the Registration and Information document available by the end of November.
**Sid will be planning the ride and more info to follow.**
